While the Class of 2027 kicked off the year with the annual Senior Sunrise, we also welcomed around 450 new Eagles to campus. Here are a few of my favorite 9th-grade moments from the first week:
After school on the first day, I met a 9th grader who told me the highlight of his day was hearing the seniors chant, "We Love Freshmen!" during the rally. Right after that, another 9th grader came running by to tell me she had earned a free ticket to the dance because someone saw her picking up trash and wanted to recognize her for doing something good. So much positive energy!
We also have lots of staff members with 9th graders this year, and they managed to get almost everyone together after school for a "
family picture."
There was something really cool about all of these moments. Seniors welcoming 9th graders, students noticing the good in each other, staff sharing this experience with their own kids, and graduates passing along their Del Oro stories to the next generation.
It's hard to imagine a better way to start a new year. Our Future is Golden.
