Principal’s Message:

Summer always seems to fly by.

While many of our students have been enjoying a well-earned break, Del Oro has been anything but quiet. Our campus has been filled with athletic camps, band practices, dance camps, and students continuing to make memories together. Behind the scenes, our custodial team has been hard at work deep cleaning classrooms and preparing every corner of campus for the year ahead, while dozens of staff members have spent time getting ready to welcome students back.

We've also had the privilege of adding 24 new staff members to the Del Oro family, the largest group of new hires we've welcomed in at least the past 15 years. We can't wait for you to meet them.

Before we dive into all of the back-to-school information, I wanted to share a few things that have happened this summer that make me excited about the year ahead.
 

Lacrosse All-Americans

I thought you would like to hear that we have a number of 2026 USA Lacrosse All-Americans & Academic All-Americans in our midst! The selections were made this summer. 

Ellie Rivera and Riley Weber were both awarded the All-American honor.

Catie Ingram, Estela Vesga, Grace Sjolie & Riley Weber were all awarded the Academic All-American honor.
 

Dance Team Scavenger Hunt

The Del Oro Dance Team has been hard at work this summer preparing for the upcoming season. As always, they kicked things off with one of their favorite traditions: a photo scavenger hunt around campus!

A few of the challenges included taking a picture with someone who works at Del Oro and capturing each of our Del Oro Character Pillars.

So much fun, and the school year hasn't even started!
 

Mathing It Up!

Nearly 300 incoming 9th graders took on the challenge of sharpening their math skills this summer as they prepared for the transition to high school.

The program began with in-person sessions in the Learning Commons, where students got a head start before continuing the work independently online. There are still a few days left before the July 31 deadline, but our future Golden Eagles have already logged thousands of hours in the online math program.

What a great example of students choosing to invest in their own success before the first day of school!
 

National Crew News

This summer, the US Rowing Youth National Championships took place in Sarasota, Florida. This competition is a week-long event against the best junior athletes in the country. Del Oro students did not disappoint!

  • Logan Doherty (Incoming 9th Grader) — National Champion: Logan’s U16 4X+ Quad boat earned 1st Place in the Nation, securing an incredible gold medal victory before he officially begins his 9th grade year on our campus.
  • Luke Doherty (Class of '26) — 5th in the Nation: Luke concluded his stellar high school career by taking 5th Place in the Nation in the Pair event. His final race featured a spectacular closing sprint, overtaking two elite boats in the final 100 meters.
 

Student Board Member Celebration

Shout out to Emma Marks, who will serve as Del Oro's Student Board Member for the 2026-27 school year! Emma is an exceptional student leader. She is the founder and president of our Math Honor Society, one of our senior class officers, and someone who consistently represents Del Oro with character and integrity.

This summer, while attending California Girls State, Emma was selected to receive the Statewide Outstanding Citizen Award, along with a scholarship. This is one of the highest honors presented at Girls State, recognizing the delegate who most consistently demonstrates leadership, integrity, character, citizenship, and service throughout the week.

Being selected from a group of 436 participants from across California makes this recognition even more impressive. Congratulations, Emma! We are incredibly proud of you and can't wait to see the impact you'll have representing Del Oro this year.
 

Supply Drive

Del Oro Parents' Club (DOPC) is running its annual Back 2 School Supply Drive. The generous support from our community allows DOPC to provide teachers with lots of extra things that will help them in their classroom in the new school year. If you are able to help, please do!

You can drop off supplies in the office or use this Amazon link and have them sent to DOPC.
 

New Bell Schedule

While it may not feel exciting enough to make the highlight reel of a Friday email, I know many of you will appreciate this update: we have made a few minor adjustments to this year’s bell schedule.

By trimming a couple of minutes in different places throughout the day, we will now finish school at 3:30 PM. Take a look at the details and start making plans for how you will spend those extra nine minutes each day.

Upcoming Events

JULY

  • 7/27: PUHSD will send Aeries portal account creation emails to new families, and to returning families who have not set up their portal accounts
  • 7/27: Parents of returning students will have access to log in to their Aeries parent portal and complete data confirmation
  • 7/31: after 8am, and once data confirmation is complete, student class schedules can be viewed from the Aeries parent portal

AUGUST
