Week Six - Spring 2026

Principal’s Message: 

Leadership Loomis visited campus on Wednesday. This group brings together business owners, nonprofit leaders, law enforcement, and educators from across our town, and we were grateful for the chance to host them. We gave them a tour of Del Oro and Confluence West, shared a few of the programs we are especially proud of, and let our students do what they do best. Mr. Domeny and our Culinary students prepared chicken and roasted pepper with basil aioli paninis on homemade focaccia, which may have stolen the show. It is always a gift to open our doors, celebrate the work happening here, and strengthen our connection with the broader Loomis community.

• Math Honor Society: Impressive 11th grader Emma Marks has taken the lead in launching Del Oro’s very own chapter of the Math Honor Society. What started as an idea has quickly become an exciting opportunity for students who love math and want to serve others through it. Emma has put in the time to organize the structure, communicate the expectations, and create clear pathways for students to get involved.
• Random Acts of Kindness: Next Week is officially Random Acts of Kindness Week.  Check out the sticky hearts mural that went up yesterday, featuring every student's name! You can send a kindness note to a student by filling out this simple form.  It'll get delivered to them in one of their classes.  
  
• Sports Parent Meeting: On Tuesday evening, we hosted our Spring Sports Parent Night, bringing together parents and coaches in the theater to review key focus areas and expectations for Del Oro Athletics. After our time together as a full group, teams broke out to meet individually and walk through the specifics of their upcoming seasons. Athletic Director John Hilton shared an important reminder with families about the true value of high school sports. Athletics provide an opportunity for student athletes to develop character, grit, discipline, and resilience. While wins and losses can feel like the most important thing in the moment, the greater goal is always growth. At Del Oro, we are not just playing sports. We are building foundations that will serve our students for life.
• More Athletics: When we talk about building foundations that last a lifetime, the results often follow. Sometimes they show up in headlines. Sometimes they quietly speak for themselves. Our girls and boys wrestling team, and softball program (11th in the nation! Are you kidding me?) have all earned well-deserved recognition in the paper for their impressive performances. It is fun to see their hard work highlighted publicly. And then there is our girls' soccer team. They may not be highlighted in the paper (as far as I've seen this year), but they have quietly put together something remarkable. They went undefeated all season, won a very tough SFL title, and are currently ranked second in the section in Division 1, competing against schools that are significantly larger than ours. We are proud of all of these athletes, not just for what they accomplish in competition, but for how they represent Del Oro along the way.  Soccer and Basketball playoffs start next week.  Brackets will come out this weekend.
