Week Two - Fall 2026

The first two weeks of the school year are typically when we sell the majority of our ASB cards. Unfortunately, we had an issue with our online webstore this year and missed much of that window. As a result, we've sold only about one-third of the ASB cards we normally would have sold by this point. So, I'm going to make a strong pitch: if you're able, please consider purchasing an ASB card for your student.

The math is simple. An ASB card costs $75 for the entire year. If your student attends even a few athletic events or dances, gets a Homecoming T-shirt, or purchases a yearbook, the discounts add up quickly and can easily make the card worth the cost.

Beyond the savings, ASB card purchases directly support the activities, events, and experiences that make high school fun and help build our Del Oro community.

Cards are available online here. You'll need your student's ID number to make the purchase. If your student is going to participate in Del Oro this year, there's a pretty good chance the ASB card will pay for itself!

At Tuesday night's School Board meeting, we heard from Ron Vance, Class of '73. Ron shared how a few of his Del Oro teachers impacted him when he was a student here in the 1970s. Those teachers built relationships with him, believed in him, and ultimately helped change the trajectory of his life.

Now, more than 50 years later, Ron is looking to give back to the community that helped shape him. He is generously funding new video boards for Bonner Gym, which will be an incredible addition to our campus.

There's more to come over the next few months. We'll get to share the stories of the teachers who made such an impact on Ron and, eventually, see the new video boards come to life.

It's pretty cool to see the impact of great teachers come full circle more than five decades later.

I stopped by Mr. Stargaard's Dual Enrollment Mechatronics class this week, and students showed me some of the programs they were working on.

They had soldered components onto a control board connected to a microcontroller (and I'm fairly certain I'm already using at least one of those terms incorrectly). From there, they wrote programs that controlled what happened each time a button was pushed. With different presses, they could turn on different colored lights, play different tones, and change how the system responded.

It was fun to have students explain to me not just what they had built, but how they made it work.

It was fun to see so many parents on campus Monday evening for Parent Night. I had the chance to stop by the classrooms of several of our new teachers and catch a little bit of their first Del Oro Parent Night presentations. I know I've said it before, but this group of new teachers we hired this year is outstanding, and it was fun to see them connecting with families.
